In a statement, the Jordanian Ministry of Health announced the first case of “monkeypox” in its territory, explaining that “the patient is a 30-year-old citizen who traveled to several European countries and returned to Jordan on August 20, 2022.

She pointed out that “the symptoms of the citizen began to appear on August 25, with high fever, sore throat, muscle pain with swollen lymph nodes, and he was treated against the background of a sore throat, and after 5 days the patient had blisters on the skin at the destination and hands , where he visited a doctor on September 7th, who suspected that the case was “monkey pox”, so they took a sample of skin acne and a blood sample from him, and it was analyzed by the method (PCR) in a private laboratory, and on Thursday the result of the analysis came out, which was positive.”

The Jordanian Ministry of Health indicated that “the patient is currently in good health, in full recovery and isolated at home, and his case is currently being investigated and close contacts are being counted for follow-up.”

And she stressed that “approved medical measures have been taken to deal with cases of monkeypox, which include the isolation of an infected case and its further observation, as well as conducting the necessary laboratory tests.”
