Former US President Donald Trump expressed his “full support” on Thursday for the re-election of Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro, whom he called the “Trump of the tropics.”
“Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, the Trump of the Tropics, as he is known, has done a great job for the wonderful people of Brazil,” he praised Donald Trump on his social network Truth Social.

The presidential elections on October 2 are the most polarized in recent Brazilian history. Polls show Jair Bolsonaro losing to former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Some fear that Bolsonaro will challenge the election result if he loses, risking scenes of violence like those on Capitol Hill in Washington by supporters of Donald Trump in January 2021.
