The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club stated that “73 Palestinians have died as a result of medical negligence in Israeli prisons since the beginning of the Israeli occupation in 1967.”

The club explained in a statement that “this is among the 231 martyrs of the captive movement since 1967, the last of which was Saadia Farajallah, who was killed in July of this year as a result of this policy”, noting that “Israel continues to hold the bodies of 9 prisoners who died or were killed during their detention.

He pointed out that “the issue of sick prisoners has witnessed major data in the last few years as the crime of medical malpractice/slow killing, along with the policy of torture, constituted the most prominent policy that led to the martyrdom of prisoners.”

He pointed out that “about 600 sick prisoners currently held in Israeli prisons have serious health conditions, including about 200 suffering from chronic diseases, and 23 suffering from tumors and cancer of varying degrees.” He added that “the most severe case of illness at present is that of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who is in danger of martyrdom at any moment.”

According to the Prisoners’ Club, Abu Hamid “suffered from lung cancer” and was not released despite having a medical report recommending “his release in the last days”. And Abu Hamid (50) spent about 30 years in prison, and his last arrest was in 2002, and the occupation sentenced him to life imprisonment 7 times and 50 years, according to the club.
