British military intelligence confirmed that “Ukrainian forces have made significant progress in the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine”, which is controlled by Russian forces.
In its daily report on the progress of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, intelligence indicated that “Russian troops have withdrawn units from the region, but fighting continues in the area of the cities of Kobyansk and Izyum, two cities of great strategic importance.”
On the other hand, the Russian Defense Ministry, in a post on communication sites, indicated that “its forces are currently delivering targeted strikes against Ukrainian army targets in the Kharkiv region,” adding that “the strikes are carried out by airborne troops, missiles and artillery.”
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian forces launched a counterattack in the east of the country, as a result of which Moscow withdrew its forces to prevent encirclement, leaving behind a large amount of weapons and ammunition.
It should be noted that Russia controls about 20 percent of Ukrainian territory, including a significant part of the east and south of the country, more than six months after the start of the military operation in Ukraine on February 24 last year.
