Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan informed his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov about the details of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.

Today, Tuesday, at a meeting of the Security Council of Armenia, it was decided to make an official appeal to Russia for the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, as well as to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the UN Security Council.

For its part, the press service of the Armenian government stated that “During a telephone conversation, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan informed US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken about the details of Azerbaijan’s aggression in the territories under the sovereignty of Armenia. During the conversation, Pashinyan informed Blinken about the official decision regarding Russia’s request to start implementing the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, as well as about the request sent to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the UN Security Council. Pashinyan expressed his “hope for an appropriate response from the international community.”

According to the press service, Blinken expressed “the American side’s deep concern about the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border”, emphasizing that “Washington will continue to make efforts to resolve the situation.”
