Special sources told Sputnik that “Turkish intelligence informed members of the so-called (Syrian opposition coalition) of the need to leave Turkish territory before the end of this year”, explaining that “this message, which is a detail in the life of this entity based in Turkey, the location his activities, came after a recent political decision was made in Turkey against the background of the (Syrian-Turkish) rapprochement under the auspices of Russia.
She reported that “the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has decided to close all offices of the ‘opposition coalition’ in Turkey and stop funding its members in accordance with a specific schedule that ends at the end of this year at the latest”, noting that “A number of members of the Syrian opposition coalition have been informed that the path of the Turkish intelligence services is to find another place for political activity (of the Syrian opposition), provided that it is outside Turkish territory, and to put an end to all political and media activities associated with this coalition, no later than end of this year.”
The sources confirmed: “This will allow those who wish to be members of the ‘coalition’ who have Turkish citizenship or permanent residence to remain in Turkey, but not to engage in any political or media activities,” stressing that “members of the coalition have already begun to look for other options for opening for them offices in some Gulf countries. Over the past years, Ankara has assigned the so-called “Syrian Opposition Coalition” special offices on its territory, in addition to giving its members a monthly salary in addition to a package of other privileges.
