Britain’s King Charles III was embarrased during his visit to Wales on Friday when someone criticized him for spending on his motorbike at a time when the country’s inflation rate has hit its highest level in 40 years.
The incident, which was documented in a video published by the Guardian newspaper, happened when King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla visited Wales as part of their tour of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom.
After attending a memorial service for the late Queen Elizabeth II in Cardiff, the king and his wife went out into the crowd to pay their respects.
While speaking to some in attendance, a man can be heard shouting loudly at the King: “Charles, while we struggle to heat our homes, we have to pay for your motorbike. Taxpayers £100m They have lost you. You are not ours.”
Although King Charles III received a warm welcome in Wales, there were critical voices, including anti-royalty protesters who booed him as soon as he arrived in Cardiff.
UK inflation hit 10.1% last July, the highest level in 40 years, as high energy prices braced Britons for a tough winter.
