The advisor to the Ukrainian president said on Wednesday that the mobilization of reservists announced by Russia contradicts all the initial plans of Moscow, which expected the aggression to last just three days before Ukraine succumbed.

We are on day 210 of the ‘three day war’. The Russians, who demanded the destruction of Ukraine, ended up being mobilized, having seen the borders closed, facing a blockade of their bank accounts, being arrested for desertion,” Mikhailo Podolyak wrote in a message posted on the social network Twitter.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday a “partial mobilization” of the country’s citizens, as the war in Ukraine approaches the seventh month of conflict, in a message addressed to the nation.

The measure, which came into force this Wednesday, is justified by the need to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In one of Ukraine’s first reactions to the partial mobilization decreed by the Russian president and reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, Podolyak jokes: “Everything is still according to plan, right? Life has a great sense of humor.”

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced on Wednesday the mobilization of 300,000 reservists and acknowledged that the country lost 5,937 soldiers during the campaign in Ukraine that began in February.

Russia, which invaded Ukraine on February 24, is ready to use “all means” at its disposal to “protect itself”, said Putin, who has accused the West of trying to destroy the country.
