The main structure of the largest liquefied natural gas storage station in eastern Jiangsu Province has been completed after the last reservoir at the station was closed, the Chinese “Xinhua” agency reported.
The facility has a total storage capacity of 2.5 million cubic meters in six tanks with a capacity of 270,000 cubic meters each, while the remaining four tanks are located in Yancheng City with a capacity of 220,000 cubic meters.
According to China Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., the roof of the LNG storage tank, which is about the size of a football field and weighs 1,200 tons, was raised more than 60 meters using air pressure.
The storage base, which is scheduled to be fully operational by 2023, will be able to process about 6 million tons of LNG per year, equivalent to about 8.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas capable of meeting housing demand in Jiangsu Province . Having a Population capacity of about 85 million in 28 months.
The capacity of the base is equivalent to reducing approximately 28.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, or planting 60 million trees.
