The Sudanese army announced that “yesterday (Saturday), the navy succeeded in capturing a boat carrying four Yemeni citizens in territorial waters off the Seven Islands.”

And he explained in a statement that “on board the boat are 90 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 162 boxes of cartridges for machine guns, 182 boxes of ammunition of various calibers, 43 boxes of wires for the Whirlwind explosive, 45 boxes of fuses for detonation.”

The army pointed out that “the (Sudanese) force, which has been formed since 2021 and includes elements of the navy, has previously succeeded in seizing large quantities of drugs, weapons and explosives smuggled in by Yemeni and Sudanese criminals.”

On the south coast of Port Sudan, in the eastern part of Sudan (the main port of the country), there is a movement of Sudanese and Yemeni groups involved in the smuggling of weapons, drugs and people.

And last July, the US Navy announced a financial reward offer of up to $100,000 to anyone who provides information that will help them fight arms smuggling in the Red Sea.
