An Avianca plane, flying from Bogotá to London, had to land on Terceira Island, in the Azores archipelago, due to a technical problemadvanced the Colombian airline.
The plane, a Boeing 787, left Bogotá on Monday night with 244 passengers and 10 crew on board, but “was diverted to Lajes International Airport (…) after a technical indication appeared,” Avianca explained, without giving further details.
EITHER plane landed ‘without incident’even though some passengers told the Colombian press that they did not receive any assistance in Terceira.
Avianca guaranteed that passengers had the support of “a provider” of services, while the airline transferred part of a team of crew from Madrid to the Azores.
The passengers boarded a “specially scheduled charter flight to assist and transport them to their final destination, London” on Tuesday night, where they will land on Wednesday morning, Avianca added.
