The government of Canada, in response to the signing by Russian President Vladimir Putin of documents on the acceptance of new territories into the country, has introduced new sanctions against the Russian Federation. It was attended by 43 people.

The wife of the press secretary of the President of Russia, Tatyana Navka, and their children, Elizaveta Peskova and Nikolai Peskov, were included in the sanctions list, according to a message posted on the government’s website. Also under the sanctions were family members of the head of the State Development Corporation Igor Shuvalov and the president of Rostec Sergey Chemezov.

She noted that “from now on, it is forbidden to carry out some commercial operations with the territories of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, including investments and exports.” She stated that she did not recognize the results of the referendums on the accession to Russia of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

The delegation of Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the accession of new territories to Russia. In response, the UK expanded the list of anti-Russian sanctions to include the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Elvira Nabiullina. Similar measures were taken by the US Treasury. In addition to Ms. Nabiullina, sanctions were imposed on members of the Federation Council and relatives of Russian officials.
