A total of 765,000 young people over the age of 12 have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the first two days of the inoculation campaign for the smallest of Mozambique, the Minister of Health announced this Friday.
“In the first two days of the campaign we managed to vaccinate 765,000 adolescents”declared Armindo Tiago.
The Mozambican Ministry of Health hopes to cover 4.8 million young people between 12 and 17 years old in a campaign that started this Tuesday and it will be done with a two-dose vaccine.
The Mozambican Minister of Health called for the collaboration of parents and guardians to ensure that “all adolescents are vaccinated.”
The vaccination rate in Mozambique is around 100% of the eligible adult population and has contributed to the decline in the disease, according to authorities.
Mozambique has already lifted most of the restrictions that existed to curb Covid-19.
In August, the country registered a total of 498 cases of Covid-19 and five deaths.
