New sanctions…Biden threatened Iran!

US President Joe Biden said on Monday that Washington would impose sanctions this week on those responsible for violence against peaceful protesters in Iran.

Biden confirmed that the United States is working to facilitate internet access for protesters in Iran. The US president also expressed concern over the reports received about the suppression of peaceful demonstrators by Iranian security forces.

Earlier, the White House had expressed its “concern” about the suppression of ongoing protests in Iran since mid-September, after the death of a young woman, Mehsa Amini.

White House spokeswoman Karen Jane Pierre said: “The White House condemns the repression of peaceful protesters by Iranian security forces.”

“We are alarmed and alarmed by reports of security officials responding to peaceful university student protests with violence and mass arrests,” he told reporters traveling with President Joe Biden in Puerto Rico.

He added that students “have the right to respond to the government’s treatment of women and girls and the ongoing violent security campaign against peaceful demonstrations.”

Elsewhere, Jean-Pierre said Washington has “concerns” about the Iran nuclear deal, although it is the “best way” to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue.

According to reports on Monday, two days after Tehran allowed an Iranian-American to leave the country, these statements were made while Washington and Tehran each agreed to exchange four prisoners.

Noor news agency reported that “an agreement to exchange four prisoners in Iran for four prisoners in the United States” without further details.

This issue takes place two days after it was announced that Iran allowed Bagher Namazi to leave the country after his release in 2020 and the release of his imprisoned son Siamak.

Namazi father was arrested in February 1395 when he went to Iran to free his son, a businessman who was arrested in October 1394, and in 1395 he was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of espionage. The act of liberation was welcomed by the Americans.

The official news agency “IRNA” reported on Sunday that Tehran expects to freeze financial assets for its benefit, which are estimated to be around seven billion dollars, in South Korea due to the US sanctions against Iran after taking action against the Namazis.

The US State Department denied any connection between the two issues.

The spokesperson of this organization said: “Baqer Namazi was unjustly arrested in Iran and after serving his sentence, despite repeated requests for urgent medical care, he was not allowed to leave the country.” However, Noor News confirmed that the inventory release will be part of a swap deal.
