Government of Guinea-Bissau reinstates more than 2,800 teachers

More than 2,800 teachers from Guinea-Bissau, whose hiring had been suspended, were reinstated and will now receive their October salary, the Guinean Ministry of Finance announced in a statement on Monday.

The Ministry of Finance explains that in the last six months, as part of the public sector reform agreed with the International Monetary Fund and other partners, it has launched a series of actions to correct and strictly control the wage mass in the Public Administration.

“The Ministry of Finance informs that this group of new teachers will begin to enjoy their salaries starting this month with retroactive execution of the seven months in arrears and that they will be paid in each current remuneration,” he refers.
