The US State Department has confirmed that Iranian authorities have allowed his Iranian-American citizen Baker Namazi to leave Iran, Agence France-Presse reported.

Earlier, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, during a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General António Guterres, said that “Iran’s release of two American prisoners is evidence of our good will.”

In early October, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said that “Secretary-General António Guterres is aware of his gratitude that, after his appeal to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, our former colleague Baker Namazi was allowed to leave Iran for medical treatment abroad”, his Siamak Namazi’s son was also released.

“The Secretary General is pleased that Siamak Namazi has been released from custody. We will continue to work with the Iranian authorities on a number of important issues, including the regional situation, sustainable development, and the promotion and protection of human rights.”
