At least 15 migrants died when their boat sank near the Greek island of Lesbos in the middle of the Aegean Sea early Thursday morning.
This is the second sea disaster for migrants off the coast of Greece since Wednesday.
According to “Reuters”, the Greek coast guard said that the sunken boat was carrying about 40 people, citing five people who have been rescued so far.
He added: 15 bodies have been found and about 20 people are missing.
This boat sank in the east of the island of Lesbos near the coast of Turkey.
A Greek coast guard ship and an air force helicopter were rushed to carry out search and rescue operations as strong winds hit the area.
A search has been made along the wider coast of Lesbos for migrants who may have reached the shores. Three people were found wandering in a remote area.
In an earlier incident, Greek authorities rescued 30 migrants whose boat sank after hitting a rocky area in stormy waters near the southern Greek island of Kythira on Wednesday.
