Inflation. Price index in Angola reaches 11.54% in February, down 15.74 points year-on-year

Angola registered inflation of 11.54% in February, with a year-on-year decrease of more than 15%. The health sector is the most affected by the price increase, followed by clothing and footwear.

The Angolan inflation rate registered a decrease of 15.74 percentage points in February 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, remaining at 11.54%, according to the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN).

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the IPCN, relative to last month, registered a variation of 0.86% from January to February 2023.

“Comparing the monthly variations (January to February 2023) there is an acceleration of 0.03 percentage pointswhile, in year-on-year terms (February 2022 to February 2023), there is a slowdown in the current variation of 0.91 percentage points,” the document says.

The provinces that registered the lowest price variation were Bengo, with 0.61%, Lunda-Sul, with 0.71%, and Cuando Cubango, with 0.73%, while Zaire registered the highest price variation, with 1. 13%, Namibe, with 1.06%, and Cunene, with 1.05%.

The Health class registered the highest price increase, with a variation of 1.88%with emphasis also on price increases in the categories of Clothing and Footwear, with 1.86%, Miscellaneous Goods and Services, with 1.41%, and Hotels, Cafes and Restaurants, with 1.33%.
