Seven dead in attack on water park in Mexico

Three women, three men and a seven-year-old boy were the deadliest victims of the attack that occurred in a water park in the town of Cortázar, in central Mexico.

At least seven people died this Sunday after an armed group entered the complex tourist center of La Palma, in the city of Cortazár, in central Mexico, and shot everyone who was there. Among the victims is a child. The motives for the attack are unknown.

In a statement cited by CNN, the municipal government said that “elements of the municipal security services arrived at the scene and found fired ammunition and three dead women, three men and a minor”, a seven-year-old boy. There are also references to an eighth victim, injured during the shooting and taken to hospital.

Also according to local authorities, a witness said he saw an armed group arrive at the spa, shoot at the tourists who were there and, before leaving again, collect equipment for the video surveillance system.

So far no suspect responsible for this attack has been arrested.

On Twitter there are testimonies (not officially confirmed) that the armed group would be made up of “2nd class elements” who entered the resort and began shooting at the tourists. In the images that accompany the post, the bodies of the fatalities appear to be visible from a distance.
