Portugal will not be represented at Putin’s inauguration ceremony
Portugal will not send diplomatic representation to the inauguration ceremony of the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, which will take place this Tuesday. The information was confirmed to the Observer by an official source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who confirms that the Portuguese ambassador to Russia, Madalena Fischer, will not be present either.
It thus joins the list of countries that, according to Reuters, decided to boycott the official launch of Putin’s sixth term, including the United States of America and Germany. An EU spokesperson also confirmed that the bloc’s ambassador to Russia will not attend the ceremony, in line with the position of most member states.
