Angolan President to attend 79th session of UN General Assembly

João Lourenço will speak at the general debate on Tuesday, the day when the speeches begin.

The President of Angola will travel to New York this Sunday with a busy work agenda to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Angolan Presidency announced.

According to a statement from the Press Centre of the Presidency of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço will take part in the general debate, which will take place on Tuesday, the day when the interventions begin.

The Angolan head of state is scheduled to participate in several other multilateral events, such as the meeting of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and a summit of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).

The agenda also includes a series of audiences and meetings of a diplomatic nature, “which will allow João Lourenço to engage in dialogue with several heads of state and business leaders.”

“A meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres is also planned.”

With a delegation of several ministers, the Angolan President is accompanied on this trip by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.
