The Ministry of Infrastructure says that the NYSTED MAERSK ship that wants to dock in Lisbon has reconfirmed that it is not carrying military cargo. BE talks about Israel’s “illegal weapons supply plan.”
The Government denied this Saturday, based on the cargo manifest, that there was justification for denying entry into the port of Lisbon to a ship that is allegedly involved in an “illegal arms supply plan” to Israel.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing, which is based on the ship’s cargo manifest and the information provided by the “shipowners and competent authorities”, the container ship NYSTED MAERSK requested authorization to dock in the port of Lisbon at 8 p.m. :00 hours: 00 hours this Saturday and to unload 144 containers.
Cargo includes automobiles, clothing, food, seeds, furniture, ceramics, glass vessels, shampoos and soaps, paintings and pictures, household appliances, fiber optic cables and various metals (copper ingots, iron shot, copper-based alloys -zinc).
“This ship is expected to set sail tomorrow morning, November 10, without carrying any cargo. In response to a request for clarification, it was confirmed to us again that no military cargo, weapons or explosives are being transported,” said the Government, after this Saturday the Left Bloc questioned the docking authorization granted to this ship.
What is at stake for the party is the alleged participation of the container ship in an “illegal arms supply plan” to Israel.
“The cargo that is transported and transits (without being unloaded in Portugal) includes three containers with aircraft components (wing parts) destined for the United States. It is also reported that there are no containers destined for Israel,” the executive clarified, pointing out that the ship, before arriving in Lisbon, had already docked in “Casablanca (5/11), Valencia (2/11), Barcelona (1 /11), Fos-Sur-Mer (10/31), Genoa (10/30), Haifa (10/25), Mercin (10/22), Alexandria (10/20).”
However, the issue raised by the Left Bloc in a question sent to Parliament and addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not refer so much to the cargo but to the ship’s alleged involvement in the aforementioned illegal plan.
In the question, which the party will present to Parliament, BE informs that it had access to an information note sent to the Portuguese Government by the BDS movement (which advocates boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel) on the use by the ship from the port of Lisbon NYSTED MAERSK, tonight.
“This ship is one of those involved in a covert plan to supply US military material to Israel that, for months, transported illegal shipments of this nature to the Spanish port of Algeciras, where the weapons were unloaded and then taken to Israel on other ships. . ”, states BE, stating that the ship in question has been “permanently traveling the Algeciras – Israel route”.
According to the Block, last week the Spanish Government prohibited the use of the port of Algeciras to another of the ships “integrated into this scheme, the MAERSK DENVER, coming from the United States of America and now parked in Tangier, Morocco.”
According to information from the party, the ship that will pass through Portugal this Saturday was “scheduled to arrive in Algeciras on November 9 (possibly to receive cargo from MAERSK DENVER to take it back to Israel)”, but “was also redirected to Tangier.”
“On this route it will pass through Lisbon, where it must dock at 10 p.m. this Saturday. These facts clearly indicate the continued participation of NYSTED MAERSK in the plan to illegally supply military material to Israel,” considers the Bloc.
BE maintains that respect for a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly approved on September 13, and with the vote of Portugal, requires that the government “take initiatives to interrupt the supply of weapons, ammunition and related material to Israel, the occupying power”. “
