Match of the French team against the Israeli team, for the League of Nations, surrounded by strong security measures due to “very tense” geopolitics.
A total of 4,000 police and gendarmes will be mobilized for Thursday’s Nations League soccer match between France and Israel in Paris, Paris police prefect Laurent Nuñez said Sunday.
According to the official, the number “corresponds to a reinforced device” and “unusual” for an international match, but taking into account that it is a match classified as “high risk.”
Núñez recalled the “very tense” geopolitical context, a week after the clashes in Amsterdam, on the occasion of the match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv, which provoked condemnation from various international sectors.
“We will not tolerate excesses or disturbances of public order,” said the police mayor.
The objective of the high authority device is to have security elements around the stadium and inside, as well as on the city’s public transport, in an action that will also include an elite unit with the Israeli team.
