The Polish Government this Monday welcomed the permission granted by Washington to Ukraine, according to the North American press, to use long-range weapons supplied by Western allies in Russian territory.
The Polish Minister of the Interior, Tomasz Siemoniak, considered it necessary and “the only appropriate response to [Presidente russo, Vladimir] Putin, who only understands the language of force“.
Siemoniak stressed that the duration of the war, “almost a thousand days of aggression,” leaves no room for doubt about the need to take forceful measures.
For his part, Cezary Tomczyk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland, stated that “Russia only knows one language: the language of power“, declaring that US President Joe Biden made “a good decision.”
Additionally, Malgorzata Paprocka, head of Polish President Andrzej Duda’s Foreign Ministry, called Biden’s decision “revolutionary” and “in line with the policy promoted by President Duda,” underlining the importance of responding to the deaths of civilians. innocent
These reactions come in addition to the message published on Sunday evening by the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radoslaw Sikorski, regarding the lifting of restrictions on the use of Western missiles by Ukraine.
“President Biden responded to the entry of North Korean soldiers into the war and the massive Russian missile attack in language that V. Putin understands: by lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western missiles. The victim of an attack has the right to defend himself,” said Sikorski on the social network X.
“Strength deters, weakness provokes.“added the head of Polish diplomacy.
Biden’s decision comes after an agreement in May to use US weapons to attack border regions on the Russian side, but without including the use of long-range ATACMS missiles or other longer-range missiles.
Ukraine has been requesting this change for some time, but the US Administration has so far rejected this decision out of fear that it could lead to a new escalation of the conflict.
The Kremlin, in turn, warned that it would consider such a move a significant escalation.
Ukraine is expected to carry out its first long-range strikes in the coming days, using ATACMS missiles, which have a range of approximately 300 kilometers.
