Benfica foresees profit of 600,000 in the sports budget in 2022/23

Benfica foresees a positive net result of more than 600,000 euros in the sports budget for the 2022/23 sports season, disclosed this Wednesday and whose main objective is “to make sport even more competitive and winning”.

The Lisbon club’s budget, released three days after the historic conquest of the European Handball League, forecasts total income of 46.3 million euros and expenses of the order of 45.7 million, values ​​above 2.5 millionapproximately, compared to the previous year, which had an expected positive result of 380,000 euros.

Personnel expenses increased by 1.5 ME, going from 14.9 to 16.4 ME, while external supplies and services increased by 1.3 ME (20.4 to 21.7 ME), the two items with more weight in the expenses of the ’embodied’ modalities.

The reinforcement of the investment reflected in this budget is a fundamental premise in the current commitment to make sport even more competitive and winning”, observed the president of Benfica, Rui Costa, in a message addressed to the partners, which heads the document.

Clube da Luz expects growth in income from membership fees (from 16.9 to 17.3 million) and merchandising exploration revenue (from 6.7 to 7.8 million)“supported by the reactivation of the macroeconomic environment”, and the “increase in license contracts for new products and services”.

In addition to allocating 10% of the net income from subscriptions to sport, the budget for next season also foresees an increase in income from youth football, seeking to reactivate alliances severely restricted by the Covid-19 pandemic, and sport, attracting new sponsorships.

This will allow “reinforcing investment in sport and in the eclecticism of the club, with a special focus on the five types of pavilion, male and female, in women’s football, in the Olympic project, in athletics and rugby, to increase team competitiveness and sporting success“.
