The economy of Qatar grew by 2.5 percent in the first quarter of 2022 year on year.

The Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority said that the economy of Qatar grew by 2.5 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, but on a quarterly basis, it declined slightly.

In his data, he explained that Qatar’s inflation-adjusted real GDP fell by 0.3 percent in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of last year to 166.26 billion rials (the dollar is equivalent to 3.6 rials).

The agency indicated that the real total value added of economic activities other than mining grew by 5.2% year on year in the first quarter and decreased by 0.9% compared to the previous quarter.

And Fitch Ratings expects Qatar’s GDP to grow by 3.2% in 2022, up from 1.6% in 2021, driven by increased production due to the hosting of the World Cup, which the country will host in November and December. as well as recovering from the corona pandemic.
