Marco Rubio returns to Pete Buttigieg: ‘I focus on real issues’

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) lashed out at Transport Secretary Pete Buttigieg for criticizing his decision to vote “no” to a law that would legalize same-sex marriage.

Speaking to CNN’s Jake Tupper on Sunday, Buttigieg was asked to comment on Rubio, who reportedly called gay marriage a “stupid waste of time” as Americans face so many challenges.

“If he has time to fight Disney, I don’t see why he doesn’t have time to defend marriages like mine. This is really important to many people. This is important to me,” Buttigieg said.

“Our marriage deserves equal treatment. “I don’t know why it’s so hard for a senator or congressman,” he continued. “I don’t understand how the majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives voted against our marriage on Tuesday, hours after debating transportation policy, which was perfect for me. normal conversation… just to have them turn the corner and say my marriage doesn’t deserve to continue. If they don’t want to waste time on it, they can vote yes and move on. That’s really encouraging for many families in America, including mine.”

Rubio later responded in a video posted on Twitter defending Florida’s latest fight with Disney and promising to tackle “real problems” that Americans are currently facing, such as high gas prices.

“We have a Harvard-educated Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, who apparently doesn’t know there is a difference between the state and federal level,” Rubio said. “Fighting Disney is a state fight, because our legislature has the right to pass a law that says we don’t want our public schools to teach six- and seven-year-olds a transgender program, and I supported that law. But at the federal level, my focus in the Senate is federal issues that matter to real people. The problems really are.”

Rubio also denounced Buttigieg for calling highways racist and bragging that high gas prices could force Americans to stop driving or buy electric cars.

“I’m going to give you a real challenge. We have a Minister of Transportation named Pete Buttigieg who thinks that highways can be racist, he thinks that $5 gasoline – it kills working Americans – is great because it means people are going to use less or everyone else is going to go. and buy a $65,000 electric car with a Chinese battery “I’m going to focus on real issues,” Rubio said.

“I will not focus on an agenda dictated by a bunch of wealthy liberal elitist and a bunch of failed Marxists who unfortunately control the agenda of the modern Democratic Party today.”
