The Russian Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian state energy operator Energoatom confirmed this Sunday the complete normality of radiation levels at the Zaporizhia NPPscene of fighting for weeks in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“Currently, the technical staff monitors the technical condition of the nuclear power plant full time and ensures its operation,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement distributed by the TASS agency.
“The radiation situation in the nuclear power plant area remains normal,” the ministry added.
However, Moscow denounced new Ukrainian attacks against the facilities, specifically the launch of two artillery shells that fell near reactor number 06 and a pumping station to cool the plant, respectively.
Ukraine did not respond to these latest accusations and limited itself to denouncing new Russian attacks in the vicinity of the plant, according to local authorities in a statement released by the Ukrainian news portal Golos.
