Air Moldova announced the resumption of flights to Moscow from October 1 after flights were suspended in February last year.
Moldova closed its airspace the day after the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, and the Chisinau airport was practically inactive for about a month, accepting only one-time charter flights permitted by civil aviation. In March, the authorities of the republic allowed the opening of an air corridor from the Chisinau airport to the western border, while the skies of Moldova remained closed to the east.
And Air Moldova said the company would resume flights to Moscow from October, as the decision came as a result of numerous calls from Moldovan citizens wishing to return to their homes or reunite with their families.
The decision to resume flights is also linked to passenger demands to use tickets purchased during the Corona virus epidemic and following the airspace closure in February, as the company confirmed that “these conditions have led to difficulties that hundreds of our citizens face every day, for example in trips for emergency medical care, cases that are particularly difficult special.
