The head of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabieh, announced a 15% increase in transit fees for all types of ships passing through the canal during 2023, while transit fees for both bulk carriers and cruise ships will be increased. an increase of 10%, provided that the implementation of the planned increase will begin in December, the second – at the beginning of next year.
Lieutenant General Rabi emphasized, according to a press statement issued by the authorities, “the desire of the authorities to implement a balanced and flexible pricing and marketing strategy that is in the common interest of the authorities and their clients and takes into account global economic conditions and their various variables through clear mechanisms, which include estimating ship transit charges based on savings achieved by the transit channel to intervene in the event of a change in the navigation market, through which it can provide channel crossing navigation services in accordance with the model policy to ensure that leadership is maintained.
