FAUCET. PCP proposes to the other parties to expand the scope of the investigation commission

The PCP proposed this Wednesday to the rest of the parties that the TAP parliamentary investigation commission be “more comprehensive” and its purpose be extended “to private management and privatization of the company in 2015.”

“The proposal that we launch to the political parties is that this investigation covers not only the most recent and restricted scope of these decisions that have been discussed, but also the private management practices that have been introduced in the company in recent years. , that is, even after its privatization and that have not been fundamentally reversed,” said PCP deputy Bruno Dias, in statements to parliamentary journalists.

According to the communist deputy, the PCP presented an expansion proposal so that “the discussion on the initiative to carry out the parliamentary consultation on the political supervision of the management of TAP can take into account a broader scope in relation to private management and privatization of the company in 2015”.

“We propose that the consequences of the privatization of TAP in 2015 be included in the scope of parliamentary consultation so that the fundamental decisions of private management are taken into account in this debate, that is, those that will have harmed the public interest and the affectation of the guardianship in these same decisions, the issue of the restructuring of TAP imposed in the recent context between the Portuguese Government and the European Union and finally the foreseeable consequences and implications of a fourth attempt to privatize the company”, he explained. .

The parliament debated on February 1 the proposals of BE and Chega for the formation of an investigation commission, but only that of the blockers has guaranteed its approval, in a vote that will take place on February 3, since the PS, which It has an absolute majority in parliament, it has already announced that it will make it viable, just like the PSD.

On January 6, BE handed over to parliament the text proposing that the commission of inquiry “under the political supervision of the TAP leadership” focus in particular between 2020 and 2022, investigating the entry and exit of former ruler Alexandra Reis and the guardianship responsibilities in the decisions that are made.
