Partners and drivers of TVDE protest again this Thursday over the situation in the sector

Partners and drivers of individual passenger transport in camouflaged vehicles (TVDE) demonstrate again this Thursday in some cities, in a “call for attention and awareness” to the platforms and the Government about the situation in the sector.

Approximately a month after the last protest, on April 5, drivers and partners have scheduled demonstrations in Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Faro and Leiria to demand better working conditions, again with the institutional support of the Associação Movimento Nacional (AMN) – TVDE.

Associação Movimento Nacional TVDE supports the drivers’ demonstration on Friday

Talking to Lusa, the president of AMN-TVDEVítor Soares explained that the organization supports the demands and stands in solidarity with the partners and drivers, adding that since the last protest “There were no great answers.”to the wishes of the sector.

“There are two new features in the list of demands: the issue of taxis in TVDE applications and the suspension of TVDE operator licenses until the review of law 45/2018,” said Vítor Soares.

According to Vítor Soares, in the essence of what became known as the Uber law, TVDEs are considered uncharacterized vehicles, which means that “taxis, being considered public transport and properly identified, cannot be available on the platforms.” , and so far only Bolt has this feature. option.

“We have nothing against taxis, but we are in an unfair situation, given that taxis taxis have various supports that TVDE does not have“He said, exemplifying the 50% cheaper insurance prices or the fact that taxis have lines to wait for customers.

Among other issues that raise the demonstration is also the willingness to pay 50% of the kilometer of the journey until the customer is picked up, given that sometimes the platforms assign trips of 10 kilometers from the passenger’s pick up without any compensation for the driver. .

Partners and drivers also ask for an increase in the current minimum customer rate per trip of 4.25 euros up to three kilometers, a reduction in platform commissions from 25% to 15% and monitoring of Institute licenses of Mobility and Transportation (Instituto da Moibilidade e dos Transportes) (IMT) and that drivers take the exam at IMT examination centers throughout the country.

The group also intends to review Law 45/2018, reminding Vítor Soares that the association is already holding meetings with parties with parliamentary seats to present their modification proposals.

Demonstrations are planned in Lisbon, Coimbra, Porto, Faro and Leiria, and in the capital the rally is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Avenida Dom João V, in Amoreiras, and will then head to Avenida da Liberdade, where it is expected that stay until 9:00 p.m.

In the Algarve, the rally will take place between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m., next to Faro airport, and between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., next to the Algarve Stadium, while in Porto the protest is planned in General Humberto Square Thin, between 10 and 24 hours. 2 p.m.

In Coimbra, the meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Praça da Canção, followed by a walk, at 6 p.m., to the City Hall. In Leiria, the demonstration should take place between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., next to the IMT.

Currently, the Associação Movimento Nacional TVDE, which elected new governing bodies in March, has around 200 members and is in the process of attracting new members.

The number of TVDE driver certificates registered in Portugal is, according to the IMT, 68,068, according to the most recent data, corresponding to April 1.

There are 13 TVDE electronic platform operators licensed in Portugal, but only two (Bolt and Uber) are active, the rest being It’s my trip, Come, Tazzi, Chauffeur, Klibber, Mobiz, Tarine, Ixat, Leb, Plink and Just Easy Mob!.

The review of the law that regulates TVDE, scheduled for 2022, has not yet advanced, five years after its entry into force, on November 1, 2018.

In 2023, the PS Government, headed by António Costa, postponed the review of the law that regulates the activity of the sector, expecting it to conclude this year, after learning of the European Union directive on TVDE.
