Victims protest with a hearse in front of the court
There is approximately an hour until the start of the session and those affected by this process are currently holding a silent protest in front of the court. They brought a funeral van, with the face of Ricardo Salgado, the main defendant in this case, and behind the van were several people wearing t-shirts that had the names of several victims in this case.
“They killed our savings, now is the time to do justice,” reads the sticker that was placed on the truck.

Good day. We now open this liveblog to follow the trial of the GES/BES case. The first session takes place today, at the Justice Campus, in Lisbon. Ricardo Salgado, former president of Banco Espírito Santo, is the main defendant: he is accused of 62 crimes, including conspiracy to commit a crime.
