The president of the Independent General Council (CGI) of RTP, Leonor Beleza, resigned from the body, she confirmed to Lusa.
“I renounced my membership in the CGI because I consider that I should not remain as such when I belong to the leadership of a political party,” he stated.
Former minister Leonor Beleza was elected first vice president of the PSD, at the 42nd National Congress of the PSD, which took place at the end of October, in Braga.
CGI was created in 2014, when Miguel Poiares Maduro was in charge of the media area.
It is an internal body for supervision and inspection of compliance with the obligations of the public radio and television service provided for in the Concession Contract signed between RTP and the State, and is responsible for choosing the Board of Directors and the respective Strategic Project of the company, as well as defining the guidelines to which the same project is subject, in accordance with the law.
The Independent General Council is made up of six members: a president and five members.
The organization was chaired by Leonor Beleza, and is made up of Alberto Arons de Carvalho, Ana Margarida de Carvalho, Isabel Medina, Isabel Pires de Lima and Vítor Caldeira.
