Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this Monday that around 11,000 North Korean soldiers were deployed in the Russian region of Kursk, bordering Ukraine, to support the Kremlin’s army.

“In the Kursk region there are already 11 thousand. We see an increase in the number of North Koreans, but not an increase in the reaction of our Western partners.“lamented the Ukrainian president in his daily speech.

The president of Russia received the head of North Korean diplomacy this Monday, a meeting that took place days after the North Korean diplomat stated, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, that Pyongyang will support Moscow “until victory” in the war. against Ukraine.

North Korea and Russia have not explicitly confirmed the North Korean deployment, but have argued that their military cooperation complies with international law.

According to estimates by the American, South Korean and Ukrainian secret services, North Korea will have deployed between 10,000 and 12,000 soldiers in Russia.

If they fight Ukrainian forces, it would be North Korea’s first involvement in a large-scale conflict since the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.
