The value of the savings in IMT and Stamp Duty attributed to people up to 35 years of age when purchasing their first home amounts to 25 million euros so far, according to the Ministry of Finance.
This value corresponds to the benefit granted from August 1 (the date on which the IMT Jovem came into force) and until October 17, having reached, according to the same information, almost 6,600 people.
According to the same data from the Ministry of Finance, the 25 million euros come from 18.4 million euros of exemption granted through the IMT and 6.6 million euros through the Stamp Tax.
You can benefit from the exemption (total or partial) of the IMT and the Stamp Taxpeople up to 35 years old who buy their first permanent home and who do not own any residential property (even if it is due to undivided inheritance or if it is in ruins) or not in the last three years.
With this measure, a total exemption is granted for properties of up to 316,772 euros (4th tax bracket) and a partial exemption between this value and 633,453 euros (part to which the 8% rate corresponding to this bracket is applied). These values will be updated from January 1, 2025, with the entry into force of the new State Budget (OE2025).
When the house is acquired by a married couple in which one of the members is over 35 years old, the exemption is only granted to those who have not yet exceeded the age limit considered and which is measured on the date of the deed.
In addition to the tax aspect, young people also benefit from the registration exemption.
