Taylor Swift Receives Honorary Doctorate, Speaks About Cancellation at NYU Graduation Speech

NEW YORK (AP) – Taylor Swift has won several Grammys and now has a new title – “Dr.”

The superstar received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from NYU on Wednesday, kissing as people mourned as she walked onto the stage at main Yankee Stadium.

Wearing her distinctive red lipstick and recently receiving a robe of honor, Swift joked in front of the thousands of alumni who had gathered: “I’m sure 90% of the time I’m here is the main reason I have a song at 22.

“I’ve never had such a normal college experience. I went to public high school until the 10th grade, and then I finished my studies by doing homework on the floors of the airport terminals.”

The singer-songwriter, producer and director revealed that he started his music career at the age of 15 by touring various radio stations around the country. She has sold over 100 million albums and won a 2021 Grammy Award for her album Folkore, making her the first woman to win the category three times. His previous wins were for Fearless in 2010 and 1989 in 2016.

Jason King of the Clive Davis Recording Institute winked when he mentioned his newly recorded albums, including Fearless.

Swift shared her advice with the class of 2022, but warned, “I don’t feel any right to tell you what to do. Now you have worked, fought, sacrificed, studied and dreamed of coming here. I won’t tell you what to do as no one likes it but still I will give you lifehacks for when I started my dream as a career.

“Feel free to experiment. Convenience is a myth,” he said.

Swift concluded her speech by telling graduates that mistakes are inevitable, but “When difficult things happen to us, we pick up, we learn from it, so we become more resilient.” As long as we are lucky enough to breathe, we breathe, breathe, breathe deeply, and breathe out. I’m a doctor now, so I know how breathing works.

“I hope you know how proud I am to share this day with you,” he said. “We’re doing this together, so let’s keep dancing like we’re in 22nd grade.”
