Disney Provides ‘Pride Rolling’ Income to Groups Opposing Florida’s Grooming Law

Walt Disney Co. It’s funding groups fighting parental rights over Florida’s education law through its newly launched LGBTQ+ themed Pride Collection clothing line.

Organizations that receive funding from Disney include the Ali Forney Center, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, GLSEN, The Trevor Project, and the Zebra Coalition. All five groups openly condemned Florida law; one of the groups supports a lawsuit against him.

Disney said it will donate all proceeds from the Pride Collection by June 30 to eight American groups that support LGBTQIA+ youth and their families.

Focusing on both children and adults, the product features rainbow motifs superimposed on familiar Disney brands such as Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar.

The New York-based Ali Forney Center described Florida’s law as “dangerous for homeless LGBTQ+ youth,” despite the fact that the law has nothing to do with homeless people. The group announced that one of its board members has taken legal action to block the law.

One of the plaintiffs in the case is a Florida high school student who says gay activism is censored by school officials. It remains unclear why the student was included in the case, as the law only applies to kindergarten through third grade children.

The Los Angeles LGBT Center also denounced Florida law, saying that law and other similar laws in other states “should be taken off the books and passers-by voted to repeal.”

“Now is the time to act.” This was stated in a recent statement by the center’s general manager, Joe Hollendoner.

The New York-based Trevor Project has repeatedly criticized the law, saying, “LGBTQ youth in Florida deserve more. They deserve to show their history, family and themselves in the classroom.”

GLSEN, formerly known as the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, described the law as “extraordinary” and said “LGBTQ+youth” deserved the opportunity to “see its reflection in the classroom”.

The Orlando-based Zebra Coalition is wrong, claiming that the law actually targets students.

“We need to create a learning environment where they feel safe and healthy, otherwise it would be an ineffective learning environment,” Heather Wilkie, CEO of the Zebra Coalition, told ABC News.

“When you have laws like this that directly attack our children as they are, it prevents them from learning,” he said. “It prevents them from being healthy.”

Florida law prohibits teaching sexual orientation and gender ideology, including transgender, to children in kindergarten through third grade. The law does not prohibit these children from doing any other study.

Disney has pledged to continue fighting Florida law despite strong bipartisan support for Florida voters.
