PF says examination confirms dental arch belongs to Dom Phillips

A dental exam this Friday (17) at Brazil’s National Criminalistics Institute confirmed that the remains belonged to British journalist Dom Phillips, according to the Federal Police (PF).

The remains of Brazilian native Bruno Pereira and British journalist Dom Phillips arrived in Brasília on Thursday night (16). The bodies were found on Wednesday afternoon (15), about 3.1 kilometers from the site of the crime, after one of the suspects reported where he had buried the bodies. The couple disappeared on the 5th at Vale do Javari in Amazonas.

“Federal Police confirms that Dom Phillips’ remains are part of material collected at the location indicated by Mr. Amarildo da Costa Oliveira, who was examined at the National Institute for Criminalistics. Confirmation was based on the Forensic Dentistry exam combined with Forensic Anthropology. Pinpointing the remains was the basis of the deaths. Work is underway to understand its causes, as well as to indicate the dynamics of crime and the concealment of corpses,” the PF note states.

According to reports from PF sources, Dom’s family sent tests with the journalist’s arcade features. which helped define. After examination of the dental arches, a DNA test should be performed on the remains of Bishop Phillips for a second confirmation.

Investigations continue on the remains of the other body, which could be Bruno Pereira. The Federal Police are still awaiting analysis of family documents and examinations of the natives.
