PSD wants to listen to the president of Tourism of Portugal in Parliament about TAP

The PSD wants to hear in parliament the president of Tourism of Portugal, Luís Araújo, about statements that encourage associations with foreign airlines, in particular the Spanish Iberia, to the detriment of TAP.

In a petition addressed to the president of the Economy Commission, the Social Democrats recall that the national airline is “in the process of restructuring, within the framework of a Recovery Plan presented in Brussels, which assumes the cost of 3,200 million euros”, which implies a great national effort on the part of the Portuguese”.

As reported this Thursday by the Jornal de Notícias, in a meeting with agents from the North region with the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism, The president of Tourism of Portugal will have made some statements that the PSD describes as “puzzling” and that “they absolutely contradict the official position of the Government regarding the national airline, its role in the national geographic space and the service it is supposed to provide to the Portuguese.”

According to the news, Luís Araújo notified those agents “forget about TAP as a strategic partner and, instead of insisting on criticism, turning the needles on Iberia, due to the diversity of connections in Madrid”.

“Given the statements made and their relevance to the company’s strategy, and considering that next week the hearings with the TAP workers’ unions will begin, as well as with the President of the company and the President of the Board of Directors, the PSD Parliamentary Group arises to request the urgent appearance in this Commission of the President of Tourism of Portugal”, justify the Social Democratic deputies.
