In the American Newsroom on Fox News on Friday, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) says only 30% of Border Patrol agents are actually on duty “in the southern part of the region from Laredo to the valley.” border because others do processing and administrative work and “we get more drugs, more people, we have less border guards doing their job”.
The key question, Cuellar said, is “how do we work with state and local government, not just separately?” said that. I know they do, but we need to do more, because at the same time, we need to understand that most drugs… don’t fit between bridges. They really come across bridges. 90% fentanyl in one go [was] We cross our bridges. So we have to make sure we have the right technology, the right teeth, the bridge staff.”
“But the problem is, as you know, the border patrol is currently in the southern part of the region from Laredo to the valley, 60% of the border patrol agents deal with immigration, deal with immigrants, 10% 30% are engaged in administrative activities and only 30% – I emphasize, only 30% – really setting up checkpoints at the border or stopping in the river. So when we buy more drugs and more people, there are fewer border guards doing their job.
