The president of the Braga District of the PSD, Paulo Cunha, announced this Monday that he will run for office again in the September 10 elections, thinking above all of the party’s “success” in the 2025 municipal elections.
In a statement sent to Lusa, Paulo Cunha stresses that the “closeness” of the elections municipal had “a decisive weight” in the decision to run again.
I do not hide that the proximity of the municipal elections, and the perception of the help that I can offer to the success of our diverse candidacies, had a significant weight in that decision”, he says.
Paulo Cunha adds that he also considered the “special circumstance that the PSD will experience in the next political cycle at the district and national levels.”
He says that with Luís Montenegro at the head of the PSD and Hugo Soares as general secretary, there is “a national framework that facilitates district political action.”
Paulo Cunha is Vice President of the PSD.
He was mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão for two terms, having decided not to run again in 2021.
IT IS president of the District of Braga since 2020.
In the municipal councils of 2021, the PSD, alone or in coalition, won nine of the 14 district chambers, namely Braga, Barcelos, Vila Nova de Famalicão, Vieira do Minho, Amares, Vila Verde, Terras de Bouro, Celorico of Basto and Esposende.
PS won the remaining five.
