The PCP questioned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday why consular workers and diplomatic missions in Brazil are the only ones who charge in reais and not in euros.
In a question addressed to the head of Portuguese diplomacy, through the Assembly of the Republic, the communists ask “what prevents the implementation of the mechanism of automatic correction of the exchange rate or the change in the currency of payment to consular workers and diplomatic missions in Brazil. ”, which are the “only ones paid in reais” (the official currency of that country).
The PCP defends that there is a panorama of “exhaustion and demotivation” among the workers, not only because of this situation, but also because there are consular employees who have been waiting for a contract for more than a year and a half.
Based on this information, the communist caucus wants to know “how many workers in the External Peripheral Services network are not registered with Social Security” and when the Executive expects to correct this situation.
“When does the Foreign Ministry plan to open a selection contest for consular posts?” questions the parliamentary group headed by Paula Santos.
