“Tricks”, “lack of courage”, “illusion”, “fraud”. From the party furthest to the left of the hemicycle to the party furthest to the right, there was almost unanimity regarding the Government’s lack of ambition in the package of measures announced to combat the effects of inflation. In the usual reactions after the announcement, one by one, the parties followed the microphones in a chorus of criticism of the Costa Executive.
EITHER PSD accused the Government of “putting tax collection first”, speaking in a “mirage“. “It’s an illusion, it’s not putting families first.”
“It’s not putting anything other than tax collection first. He forgot that he should have defended the Portuguese families first. This illusion with retirees is profoundly wrong”, pointed out the Social Democrat António Leitão Amaro, who recalled that “since May the PSD” has presented proposals. For the PSD, in fact, the only news that António Costa brought this Monday was “an illusion”.
“The prime minister said that the Portuguese will win, [mas] they do not go. [O Governo] Start paying now so next year you pay less than you owe. Not only does it have a proposal that supports retirees less, but it is a wrong way of treating retirees, it seems that it gives, but in reality it gives less than what the law provided for next year, ”said the Social Democrat. He also criticized the lack of ambition of the Costa Executive: “It did not comply with the proposal to reduce VAT on gas and fuel, the PSD proposed a reduction to a minimum rate on electricity, gas and fuel. The government decided not to do it.”
