The Government again proposed this Wednesday to the social agents, within the scope of the income and competitiveness agreement, to increase the value of overtime from 120 hours, according to the proposal to which Lusa had access.
The measure had already been discussed as part of the labor changes provided for in the Decent Work Agenda but, in May, the Government withdrew the measure from this labor package, announcing that it would be included in the medium-term agreement to improve incomes, salaries and competitiveness, which will be presented this Wednesday afternoon at the Social Dialogue.
In the document presented, the Government recovers the previous proposal of increase pay for overtime to 120 hours a year.
According to himself, the value goes from 25% to 50% in the first hour or fraction, from 37.5% to 75% per hour or subsequent fractionin one business day, and from 50% to 100% for each hour or fractionon a compulsory or complementary weekly rest day, or on a public holiday.
In May, at the Social Dialogue, the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, said that the increase in the value of overtime hours would finally be discussed in the scope of the income agreement, which the Government intends to conclude in October , and not the Decent Work Agenda, a package of labor amendments now before parliament.
The increase in the value of overtime had already been approved by the Council of Ministers in October 2021 and, at the time, provoked criticism from the employers’ unions, which suspended their presence at the Social Dialogue meetings, indicating that this was a of the measures that had not been implemented, discussed with the partners, but that was part of the negotiation in parliament with a view to making the State Budget viable for 2022, which ended up failing.
