“I’m sick of bullying”: a skateboarder criticizes Red Bull for competing with a trans man

The skateboarder publicly criticized Red Bull for competing against a transgender man at the Red Stone Cornerstone event, where he finished second.

In an Instagram post, skateboarder Taylor Silverman said she’s been unfairly placed second in several events where she competes against biological males. In the Red Bull Cornerstone case, she lost to Lillian Gallagher, who took home the coveted prize pool.

“I am an athlete. I have been skateboarding for 11 years and racing for several years,” he wrote in his Instagram post. “I participated in three different competitions with trans women, two of which were runner-up. I finished second in my last competition series for Redbull.

“The winning trans contestant received $1,000 in qualifying, $3,000 in the final, and $1,000 in the best number one. And that means a $5,000 cash prize for female athletes,” she said. “I got $1,000 in qualifying, $1,750 for second place, $2,750 overall. The third place girl got $750. The girl who deserved $1,000 for the best stuntman got nothing along with the third place winner.

“I deserve to be number one, to be recognized for my success and to earn money. I contacted Redbull but they ignored me. “I’m sick and tired of having to keep quiet,” he said.

Taylor Silverman also posted a screenshot of an email she sent to Red Bull’s senior sports marketing manager, Erich Damme, which she said she ignored.

“It made it impossible for women to earn and earn money,” Taylor said. “What happened was unfair, and I wasn’t comfortable talking about it at the time. I understand that even some women are acceptable in today’s society, but I believe in doing the right thing even if it’s not popular. Now I understand that talking is very important to me and I want to take time for conversation.”

Taylor’s strike against Red Bull comes after a lengthy article by British cyclist Nicole Cook arguing that trans athletes should have their own competitive category separate from women’s sports.

“Sport is a competition between equals. There are weight limits in boxing because there is no competition where a nine-stone man would fight the greatest man on the planet,” Cook wrote. “Women’s sports are isolated due to multiple disciplines, the larger average male body shape gives an advantage.”

Cook’s advice followed tennis player Martina Navratilova, who said there should be “an open category for everyone and then for biological women.”

“So trans women can compete, but they will compete with men. And trans men have a choice,” she said.

More surprisingly, myanna Bagger, the famous transgender golfer who made history after her 1995 move and competed in the Women’s Australian Open, also argued that biological men should be banned from women’s sports.
