The soccer player Vítor Ferreira recovered from the coronavirus infection and this Friday he joined the training of the Portuguese team, in which the starters against Spain (1-1), as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, did recovery work in the gym.

The FC Porto midfielder tested positive at the beginning of the work of the “quinas” teamfacing the first four games of Group A2 of the League of Nations, being left out of the duel with Spain this Thursday, at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, in Seville.

Secondly, the starters of that match did not go up to the main field of Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, and stayed in the gymwhere they were accompanied by the “captain” Cristiano Ronaldo, who did not line up at the start and entered the match after 62 minutes.

In this way, the preparation included the presence of 14 players – 12 on the field and two goalkeepers – who carried out the usual exercises with the ball during the 15 minutes open to journalists, while Rui Patrício and Rui Silva carried out specific tasks.

The team began to prepare for the reception of the Swiss counterpart, on Sunday, at the Estádio José Alvalade, in Lisbon, at 7:45 p.m., which will be refereed by the Israeli Orel Grinfeeld. Portugal and Spain each have one point, while the Czech Republic leads Group A2 with three, after beating Switzerland 2-1 at home.

After facing the Swiss, Portugal returns to the same stage, on Thursday, to measure forces with the Czech Republic, and then to Geneva, where it will play on July 12, in what will be the second clash with the Swiss.

After these four games, the five-team squad will play their last two games in Group A2 on September 24 and 27, the first in the Czech Republic and the second in Braga, against the Spanish.

The Portuguese team, winner of the first edition of the League of Nations in 2019, needs to win the group to reach the “final four” of the third edition, the second is won by France, in a final with Spain, in 2021.

The Nations League Final takes place from June 14-18, 2023, with the winners of the four League A groups moving bottom from each of the groups to League B.
