On Saturday morning, the delegation of the Lebanese Junior Volleyball Federation flew to Amman (Jordan) at the invitation of the Jordanian Federation to participate in a four-team training camp. July 31, the mission will return to Lebanon on August 1. Ten teams will take part in the Arab competition, divided into two groups, the first includes Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq, and the second – Qatar, Syria, Kuwait, Palestine and Saudi Arabia.
The delegation includes: Elie Moussa (chairman), Issam Abu Judah (administrative staff), Johnny Lakis (coach), Jean Abu Jude (assistant coach), Bassam Gemayel (international referee), as well as players Joseph Shaheen, Elie Mansour, Walid Awad, Mazen Atar, George Saad, Javad Aoun, Ralph Shehab, Omar Abi Karam, Anthony Jahi, Jihad Atar, Hadi Al Shabib, Abdel Rahman Kurhani, George Nemeh and Eli Khoury.
The Lebanese youth team has participated in the modern era of Lebanese volleyball in four Arab championships held in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan, and its results were average and acceptable due to the short preparation period and the lack of external camps.
The current Lebanese national team was re-formed after a forced three-year hiatus. Education and training began on May 5 last year, and after three weeks of testing a large number of young players, the team members were selected. Since last June, the team has been training six times a week with some experimental matches, in addition to his participation in an external camp in Jordan organized by the Jordanian Federation for the game.
The team includes young elements, from which it hopes to become the core of the Lebanese national team among men in the near future, especially since the federation received the support of the Lebanese national teams from the International Federation, fortunately highlighting it as a full-fledged one. time coach for the implementation of the program dedicated to this topic, with reference to the support this team received from the Federal President of Western Asia and Qatar, Ali Ghanem Al-Kuwari, the President of the Saudi Federation, Dr. Khaled Al-Zughaibi, and the President of the Arab and Kuwait Federations, Dr. Abdul Hadi Al Shabib.
