The last proposal did not work: Miguel Oliveira will have rejected Tech3 for the last time and will even go to Aprilia

Inevitably, the telenovela about Miguel Oliveira’s future is rapidly drawing to a close. After the Portuguese pilot himself announced a press conference for next Wednesday, the German press now guarantees that Oliveira has already rejected the latest Tech3 proposal and will even ride for RNF Aprilia in the next MotoGP season.

Recall that, last week, Stefan Pierer, CEO of Pierer Mobility, owner of KTM, revealed that he had presented a new proposal for the permanence of Miguel Oliveira, offering a three-year contract and taking advantage of the idea with the new project of GASGAS, the brand that joined Tech3 for 2023. However, in an interview with the German magazine Speedweek, he immediately recognized that he was not very optimistic, especially since Miguel Oliveira had already signed a letter of intent with Aprilia.

“We offer a three-year contract, it will be a second factory team”: Oliveira’s proposal from KTM (and a “problem” in the decision)

“I don’t think Miguel will race with us in 2023 because he signed a letter of intent with Aprilia. Now we assure you that Tech3 will be a true factory second team in the future. He didn’t know this when we offered him the move to Tech3 in May. If he had known at the time how the team would be structured in the future, he might have stayed. He was a little sore when we signed Jack Miller, but that’s what it is. Now let’s wait and see what Miguel says. If he wants, there’s a place at Tech3. The ball is now in his hands. We offered him a three-year contract so that he would have stability and build the GASGAS project with Pol [Espargaró]Pier said.

Now, Speedweek itself advances that Miguel Oliveira even chose to reject the latest proposal from the KTM satellite team and decided to sign with RNF, which will be Aprilia’s satellite team next season and where he should team up with Raúl Fernández, who curiously currently runs in Tech3. There, together with Pol Espargaró, the solution should fall on Augusto Fernández, current leader of the Moto2 World Championship. The Portuguese driver should announce and make official all these changes next Wednesday, at the press conference he has called and in the run-up to the San Marino Grand Prix.

“It took time to reach an agreement, Aprilia made a good offer and decided to accept”: Oliveira’s departure from KTM confirmed… by Ducati

If confirmed, Miguel Oliveira ends a long relationship with the Red Bull project. The Portuguese rider started racing with KTM in 2015, when he was still in Moto3, and with that same team he went up to Moto2 and MotoGP, arriving at the factory team after two years in Tech3, the satellite team.
