Saudi Arabian Football Association Board has approved the launch of the first edition of the Reserve League with 7 teams from the Roshan Professional League namely Al Shabab, Al Ittifaq, Abha, Al Fateh, Al Faiha. , Al-Tai and Al-Wahda.
The reserve league approval aims to increase the actual number of minutes of play for non-essential players, helping to level them up and giving players under 23s and age groups the opportunity to develop their level, as well as giving players returning from injury. the opportunity to rebuild before returning to the first team; and to increase the number of minutes played for internationals that do not regularly participate in the first team and to retain young talent who do not find chances in the first team.
The Rising Reserve League is played on a full back-and-forth league system so that its matches are synonymous with those of the 2023-2023 Roshan Pro League, with a total of 42 matches per season, assuming each club is allowed to register 20 players on the match list by several conditions, namely: The player is registered in the first team list, and the players registered in the club lists in the lowest rank are eligible to play in the reserve league matches.
Clubs participating in the league will receive financial support of two million rials in addition to league prizes totaling 2,825,000 rials, as well as an increase in the number of players registered on the first team roster from 30 to 35 players.
5 substitutions will be allowed in each match, while disciplinary sanctions for reserve league matches will apply to the same league and will not be carried over to other tournaments, unless the Disciplinary Committee decides otherwise, as in the case of color cards that are not move in and out of the league.
